McFarland, a defensive tackle out of Lufkin, Texas, is the No. 13 overall prospect in the nation according to Rivals.com.

The 6-foot-3, 280-pound McFarland is also ranked No. 18 overall by Scout.com and No. 51 by ESPNU.

Hot ticket

Purchasing a ticket to Saturday’s game between No. 2 Texas Tech and No. 5 Oklahoma isn’t cheap.

Tickets are going for a minimum of $150 on the ticket-selling Web site StubHub.com.

Lower level seats are up to $1,500 apiece.

The game is also the best-selling OU home game in StubHub history based on dollar volume, according to company spokeswoman Joellen Ferrer.

Home grown

The state of Oklahoma has been a pipeline of talent for Texas Tech over the years. This year, nine Oklahomans are on the Tech roster, led by defensive tackle Colby Whitlock of Noble.

On the season, Whitlock has 29 tackles, five for losses and a sack.

Containing Crabtree

Last year, Tech All-American wide receiver Michael Crabtree gashed OU for 12 catches, 154 yards and a TD in a 34-27 win.

The Sooner defense is putting a special emphasis this week on containing Crabtree.

"The thing we need to do on defense is make sure to limit his catches and limit his yards after the catches,” safety Nic Harris said. "If we can do that and take away the run game, we should be fine.”

Quotable

"In class talking to my friends, just talking to people, everyone here is excited for this game. Even the energy in the locker room yesterday, I felt as a team, we had the most energy for a Monday practice that we’ve had in a long time. I think everyone is excited to play on Saturday.”

RUDY!!!!!! No way man! I've got a kindred spirit in this unholy land of California? My best friend teaches at Woodlake High School and the head football coach used to be a colleague of mine. Boomer Sooner back at you!

I guess I am one of those older ticket holders that are not very loud. I do like to watch the game and let the play of OU do the talking. However, I may make an exception this time.....particularly when Tech has the ball.

I will be yelling.....from 1,700 miles away here in Visalia California. Lets hope a week without OU football, a big game, national tv, all adds up to about 80,000 plus rabid fans. patrick I will ask the concession stands to slip a little something in the drinks of our more subdued fans to get them a rockin'.

The majority of fans in the lower bowl, especially on the west side, are older fans that have held tickets for many years and make large donations to the school so they can have those seats. They go to games not to be loud, but to enjoy the game. My grandfather has had his season tickets since 1953 and usually leaves after the second quarter is done. Bob Stoops also can't blame the fans for the lack of excitement when there hasn’t been very many quality teams playing in Norman the past 10 years. Mizzou last year and Nebraska in 2000 are about the only teams I can think of who OU could have lost to on paper. The loudest I have ever heard Memorial Stadium since the expansion was in 06 when Texas Tech came to town. Before that it was against Nebraska in 2000. The University is mostly to blame for the lack of noise because they chose money over madness after adding the new upper deck. All the new season tickets were awarded based on the donations that person was willing to make. My father who is a graduate of 1974 has been on the waiting list since 97 because he refuses to donate to the University while David Boren is President (they have had some negative business dealings). I also think that OU has one of the smallest student sections in the country in terms of the stadium size. That is pathetic in my opinion, but reinforces my statement about the University selling out for the money.

I don't know about ya'll, but my seats are pretty much surrounded by people that are a little older, hence don't like to get real loud. I think they get annoyed with me sometimes because I'm not shy about bringing the noise.......they're really gonna love me Saturday night!!

You know, I don't know why OU fans are so quiet, It sucks. In every sport, not just football. OSU fans are even alot more louder than us. We need to do that ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo thing and jump up and down like they do at Duke. That would be cool at a football game. BOOMER SOONER!!

During an off-week for OU, I was at the Georgia @ Arizona St game. I was impressed by the ASU crowd's enthusiasm, and wondered why we can't do the same. By the way, I'm a season ticket holder. Ray - North End Zone
